Summary
To provide emotional support as needed to attendees on Coventry, Warwickshire and Worcestershire Mind training.Detailed description
Commitment level
For Mental Health First Aid, Suicide First Aid and Suicide Prevention Workshops. MHFA is a two-day course when provided in person, or 4 consecutive half days online; SFA is one full day; SP workshops are 3–4 hours. Estimated 10 courses per month.
Location
Either online delivery – accessed via Teams, or at our Allesley office, or within the communities of Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Core tasks
To support the trainer when delivering to large groups:
- Online – managing breakout rooms, overseeing comments in the chat function
- In-person and online – being available to offer emotional support to individuals on a one-to-one basis if they are triggered/ tripped by content
- Contribute to delivery by engaging with discussions and content
- Debrief with the trainer after the delivery what went well, areas for improvement or development
Person specification
- The volunteer needs to have, warmth, sensitivity, understanding, patience and a sense of humour, with a mature flexible outlook and enough time to volunteer regularly
- To be able to give at least six months commitment
- No specific experience is necessary as training will be given
Support offered
- Induction training is provided before volunteers take up their role
- Ongoing training is provided by the service
- Support/supervision sessions provided
- Reimbursement of expenses
- Public liability insurance cover
Other information
- Volunteers are required to complete an application form
- Provide details of two referees (who are not related and have known the applicant for a minimum of two years)
- Complete a DBS check
- Attend any training required
