Summary
Social activities and group support for autistic children and young peopleDetailed description
Core tasks
- To be involved in the delivery of social-based group support providing safe environments where children and young people can socialise, seek information and get support. These may be online or face-to-face.
- To report to the Service Lead/Service Manager in line with Coventry and Warwickshire Mind’s safeguarding and reporting process, any concerns regarding children and young people and/or their families.
Personal specification
- The volunteer needs to have, warmth, sensitivity, understanding, patience and a sense of humour, with a mature flexible outlook and enough time to volunteer regularly
- Be able to give at least six months’ commitment
- No specific experience is necessary as training will be given
- Must be aged over 18
Support offered
- Induction training is provided before volunteers take up their roles
- Ongoing training is provided by the coordinator
- Support/supervision sessions provided
- Reimbursement of expenses
- Public liability insurance cover
Any other information
- Volunteers are required to complete an application form
- Provide details of two referees (who are not related and have known the applicant for a minimum of two years)
- Complete a DBS check
- Attend any training required
