Summary

Social activities and group support for autistic children and young people

Detailed description

Core tasks

  • To be involved in the delivery of social-based group support providing safe environments where children and young people can socialise, seek information and get support. These may be online or face-to-face.
  • To report to the Service Lead/Service Manager in line with Coventry and Warwickshire Mind’s safeguarding and reporting process, any concerns regarding children and young people and/or their families. 

Personal specification

  • The volunteer needs to have, warmth, sensitivity, understanding, patience and a sense of humour, with a mature flexible outlook and enough time to volunteer regularly
  • Be able to give at least six months’ commitment
  • No specific experience is necessary as training will be given
  • Must be aged over 18

Support offered

  • Induction training is provided before volunteers take up their roles
  • Ongoing training is provided by the coordinator
  • Support/supervision sessions provided
  • Reimbursement of expenses
  • Public liability insurance cover

Any other information

  • Volunteers are required to complete an application form
  • Provide details of two referees (who are not related and have known the applicant for a minimum of two years)
  • Complete a DBS check
  • Attend any training required
