Summary

Volunteers to join in with our support and play sessions. Volunteers will encourage play and socialisation with SEND children and their siblings.

Detailed description

We are looking for activities assistants and befrienders to support a local social/ support group, monthly on a Wednesday.


The charity provides a safe and secure environment where children can get involved in various activities and play. Volunteers will encourage play and socialisation and support the children in the activities provided.

Some children requiring support have a diagnosis of ASD and require extra patience, care and understanding.


Duties include:

*Setting up/packing down

*Cleaning

*Encourage play and socialisation

*Be supportive of parents

*Ensuring activities are safe and that no health or safety risks arise throughout the session

*Assisting the Play Leader with organising the children during activities.

*Supporting the Arts & Crafts co-ordinator when needed.


We are looking for someone who is confident and enjoys working with children. They must have good communication skills, a good sense of humour and be able to work on their own initiative and be patient and supportive.

About Roots to Branches Autism Network

We are a small charity that supports families with children who have or are awaiting a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

Our focus is to provide support for local children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families in the form of non-judgmental group sessions, both in-house and in public settings. Our service also extends to families who are awaiting assessment for their children.

Group Leaders have experience with ASD which enables them to work with the children with a superb level of understanding and patience.

Our team are also on hand to offer support and advice to parents/carers with empathy and knowledge gained through experience.

We welcome all members of the family including young carers.

We also run regular coffee mornings within local schools.
