Summary

We are looking for a Repair Station Lead to help coordinate and oversee our Repair Station at EX(CHANGE) events

Detailed description

This is a great opportunity for someone with practical repair experience who can guide volunteers, ensure safety, and support attendees in maintaining and fixing household items.

As the Repair Station Lead, you will:

Use your repair skills to help fix small household items, furniture, and electrical appliances

Guide and support volunteers at the Repair Station.

Ensure the repair space runs smoothly and attendees feel welcomed and supported.

Work with event organisers to coordinate what items can be repaired and what tools/resources are needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Repair Station during the event, ensuring volunteers and attendees are supported.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on common household repairs (small appliances, basic furniture fixes, DIY).
  • Ensure safety by assessing what can/cannot be repaired on-site.
  • Work with the team to recruit and train volunteer fixers for future events.
  • If possible, bring your own tools/equipment to support repairs.
  • No PAT testing required – we will have a qualified PAT tester on-site for electrical safety checks.

Who We’re Looking For:

✅ Someone with repair, maintenance, or DIY skills (e.g., furniture repair, small appliance fixes, general handiwork).

✅ Experience leading or working with volunteers (preferred but not required).

✅ A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to problem-solve and offer guidance.

✅ A friendly and patient attitude, able to engage with volunteers and community members.

✅ Passion for helping others, reducing waste, and creating a supportive space for learning.

What You’ll Gain:

  • The opportunity to lead and shape a valuable community initiative.
  • Hands-on experience working in a dynamic, volunteer-led environment.
  • The satisfaction of helping people keep their items in use rather than discarded.
  • A chance to share your skills and knowledge while mentoring others.

Additional Information:

💡 This is a volunteer role – no formal qualifications are required, just relevant repair experience.

💡 We are looking for someone who can commit to this event and possibly help with future events.

💡 If you have your tools or equipment, it would be a great help!

💡 We will have an on-site PAT tester, so this role does not require electrical safety testing.
