Detailed description

The EM(POWER) Coordinator will act as a dedicated point of contact for a small group (4-5) of EM(POWER) members, supporting them in navigating available resources, engaging in opportunities, and encouraging self-empowerment. This facilitation role ensures that members can take responsibility for their progress rather than fostering dependency.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Regular Check-ins & Engagement

  • Provide light, structured check-ins with assigned members (via message, email, or call) throughout the week.
  • Ensure members are aware of available resources, events, and opportunities.
  • Offer gentle encouragement and motivation to participate.

🔹 Matching Needs with Available Resources

  • Regularly review what’s available on the RE(YOU)S platform and match members with relevant resources.
  • Support members in identifying opportunities that align with their current needs and goals.
  • Maintain a facilitative approach, guiding them toward action rather than doing it for them.

🔹 Holding Space & Encouraging Engagement

  • Provide a listening ear while reinforcing boundaries and self-empowerment.
  • Create low-pressure engagement pathways for those who are hesitant to get involved.
  • Encourage peer support and community participation.

🔹 Tracking Engagement & Identifying Challenges

  • Keep informal notes on members' participation, identifying who is engaging, struggling, or resistant.
  • Flag any recurring challenges or trends that might require additional RE(YOU)S team support.

🔹 Upholding the Values of RE(YOU)S

  • Ensure that support remains empowering, not enabling.
  • Foster a culture of community, autonomy, and sustainable empowerment.
  • Encourage members to advocate for themselves and take ownership of their participation.

Time Commitment & Structure:

📅 Time Commitment: Approx up to 8 hours per week, spread across Monday–Friday.

Engagement Cycle:

Daily/Weekly Light Check-ins (5-10 mins per member, depending on needs).

Review Platform & Match Resources (1-2 hours per week).

Encourage Participation & Events (as needed).

Hold Space, Listen, & Guide (30-60 mins per weekly member if needed).

Location: Hybrid – mostly remote with occasional in-person interactions.

Ideal Person for This Role:

A supportive facilitator, not a rescuer – Encourages self-empowerment over dependency.

Good at balancing empathy & boundaries – Listens but doesn’t absorb problems.

Organised & proactive – Can keep light engagement tracking.

Good communicator – Able to check in consistently without over-involving.

Has experience in mentoring, coaching, psychology, social work, or community engagement.

Who Would Be a Good Fit?

  • Psychology, social work, or counselling students (or professionals with experience).
  • Mentors, community facilitators, or life coaches.
  • People with experience in support work, community engagement, or empowerment-based work.

Volunteer Benefits:
