Summary

To provide interpreting services for clients at the CRMC mostly via telephone but also occasionally attending offices to interpret face to face.

Detailed description

To provide interpreting services for clients attending appointments at the Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre. Most of the interpretation is carried out via telephone although occasionally volunteer interpreters also attend our offices to interpret face to face. 

Main Activities

  • Confidential and precise interpreting via telephone or face-to-face interpreting.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries with the client during and outside the appointments.
  • Following Interpreter guidance.
  • Adhering to CRMC policies including- Professional boundaries, confidentiality and Safeguarding.

Essential Attributes

  • Fluent English and one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Pashto, Dari, Urdu, Farsi, Kurdish, Polish, Romanian, Albanian.
  • Or fluent in any language as well as English
  • Ability to observe impartiality whilst interpreting, without expressing personal opinions or giving advice.

Time Commitment

The demand for a particular language is variable and dependent on client needs. There are no set times when we can guarantee that an interpreter will be needed. This might happen at any time during office opening hours (Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00). You will only be contacted during the times that you have told us you are available.
