Volunteer Cat Foster Carer

Cats Protection Lifeline is a specialist cat fostering service for survivors of domestic abuse.

Lifeline offers temporary foster care for cats whose owners are fleeing domestic abuse, enabling both survivors and their pets to get to safety and then aims to reunite them once the owner has secure, safe housing in place. 

Fostering for Lifeline is completely confidential and comes at no financial cost to the volunteer and they would be supported by the team throughout the placement. The service is unique in that we offer long term foster placements of 6 months or more (with shorter term options available), asking our volunteers to allow the cat/s access to their whole home, whilst keeping them indoor only due to safety. Due to the nature of the role, we ask that our foster carers have no free roaming pets, but if you have animals in your home who reside in tanks or cages, and we can discuss this. We cover all of the costs involved with fostering a cat with us and can make arrangements for holiday cover.

Fostering a cat in need is a rewarding opportunity to enjoy the company of a cat, without the long-term commitment and 96% of Lifeline foster carers said fostering a cat has had a positive impact on their wellbeing and mental health. 

The service is only made possible because of our amazing volunteers who open their hearts and homes to cat/s in need.
